LAURA A. BRODIE PH.D.

Education

Dr. Brodie attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas for her undergraduate degree in psychology. She obtained her Master’s and Doctorate from Rosemead School of Psychology, an APA accredited program in La Mirada, Ca. Dr. Brodie did her internship with a part time placement in Texas Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and part time placement at The University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. Dr. Brodie then returned to Southern California where she had a post-doctoral fellowship with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Clinical and Forensic Practice

Dr. Laura Brodie has been in clinical and forensic private practice for more than 23 years. She has worked as an expert witness in Federal, State and Family Law Courts. Dr. Brodie has been court appointed as well as privately retained and has performed hundreds of forensic evaluations for both the prosecution and defense. She also has performed numerous independent medical evaluations (IME) for civil cases for both plaintiff and defense.

Assessments

Dr. Brodie has specialties in competency, sanity, psychosexual and dangerousness evaluations. She has also worked with law enforcement performing original hiring and return to duty evaluations. She works in the civil arena to assess for psychological damages. Dr. Brodie has been a consultant for attorneys and given second opinions of other professionals' work.

Other

Dr. Brodie worked in Southern California for 23 years and has now relocated to Mississippi. While in California she was an expert reviewer for the California Board of Psychology regarding complaints filed against psychologists. Dr. Brodie has been a professor of clinical and forensic psychology at the doctoral level and has chaired dissertations.

Currently

Dr. Brodie currently works in the Mississippi Department of Corrections as a Psychologist Clinical Director. She is responsible for training Master’s level therapists in the forensic and clinical areas. She consults with security staff on dangerousness issues as well as identification of mental illness.

Dr. Brodie is excited to be back in Mississippi, after a long absence away. She desires to bring state of the art, scientifically based evaluations and treatment plans to the forensic arena for better service to the community.
