PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

Why is psychological assessment so important?

Research has shown that clinical judgment alone is quite faulty in determining diagnosis, dangerousness and other issues that are important in a legal case. Psychological assessment provides the evaluator important data that has been researched and validated. It also helps with issues regarding the possible need for medication, presence of neurocognitive issues and also assesses for malingering and deception.

Although psychological assessment is important, it is only as good as the tests that are used. Dr. Brodie has trained, utilized and taught proper psychological testing that is valid, reliable and has solid peer reviewed research to back up her findings. Choosing the correct assessments for a case is extremely important because some tests do not meet judicial standards to be utilized in court.

Some of the areas of assessment include:

  • Cognitive testing

    • Assessment of neuropsychological issues

    • intelligence, judgment and reasoning

    • ADHD and memory issues

  • Specialized assessment
